Oracle Sisters: ‘Paris I’

Oracle Sisters: ‘Paris I’

While finding inspiration in art, cinema and philosophy, Oracle Sisters combine music and visual arts. They have wrapped our senses in a world that is both texturally sophisticated and warmly familiar. Their songs are an exploration of timeless narratives, JJ Cale inspired chord progressions and dazzling harmonies that force us to engage. Today, they release their debut EP on NYC independent label, 22TWENTY.

If you have had your ear to the ground, you will know that Oracle Sisters have been building up a loyal following with an intricate set of songs that have been released this year – Asc. Scorpio, Most of All, High Moon and The Vibes. The previously released singles play upon a myriad of influences, and Paris I will give them a conceptual unity while also featuring a couple of previously unheard surprises.

Their latest single, Honest Man, is the final track to be released from the EP and it is a blanket of textures creating a melodically intricate sound featuring reverb drenched guitars, cutting synths and dreamy harmonies – a sound that clearly demonstrates their interest in cinema and art as well as an eclectic musical taste.

Speaking about the conceptual nature of the EP, lead-guitarist Lewis Lazar states that the concept of the EP was inspired by photography from the Paris World Fair of 1900. The photography featured a reimagined city in its ideal form that ‘seemed to echo a necessity with humanity at a crossroads, needing to reimagine its future as a society and as a species.’ A concept that perhaps needs to be illustrated more than ever due to the socio-economic unrest that we are currently facing.

Oracle Sisters stand in between these crossroads, wanting to create a tale of two cities, Paris I & II– One where humanity faces these problems, and one where they are ignored.

The conceptual nature of the EP gives the collection of songs a broader intellectual purpose, while allowing the influence of philosophy and cinema manifest within their lyrical content, musical textures and their visual art.

We look forward to immersing ourselves in both Paris I & II.
