Phoebe Green: 'Reinvent'

Phoebe Green: 'Reinvent'

Manchester’s Phoebe Green has just shared her latest single ‘Reinvent’. It’s a textural pop number that continues to develop in each section, featuring an array of pulsating synths, layered vocals and detailed guitar work.

Being the first track released since Green shot to prominence with debut singles ‘Dreaming Of’ and ‘Easy Peeler’, it’s been eagerly awaited and has already been met with widespread acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1 where it was premiered with Annie Mac.

Over the past year or so you may have stumbled upon Green’s previous singles ‘Dreaming Of’ and ‘Easy Peeler’. Both of these tracks gained extensive support from Radio 1 and Pitchfork with ‘Dreaming Of’ finding its way onto Billie Eilish’s personally curated ‘In My Room’ playlist. Following the success of both singles, Green wrote ‘Reinvent’ with The Big Moon’s Juliette Jackson and produced the track with Kaines & Tom A.D – the production duo of double Mercury Prize nominated band Everything Everything.

Speaking about the new single, Green explains: “‘Reinvent’ is one of those songs where the meaning differs depending on the mood, I’m in when I listen to it. When I wrote the lyrics, I’d come to the end of a really exhausting period of people pleasing; for a very long time I was of the belief that if I could make everybody like me then maybe I’d be happier. I’ve since come to terms with the fact that that’s not how it works! Currently the song depicts the process of figuring out how much of myself I’m willing to give, and learning to accept the fact that regardless of my efforts, some people will like me and some people won’t, I can’t control it either way.”

‘Reinvent’ is out now on Chess Club. A label which has been home to the likes of Jungle, Wolf Alice and MØ.
