Sen Morimoto: 'Woof'

Sen Morimoto: 'Woof'

Two years on from the release of Sen Morimoto's debut album 'Cannonball!' the Chicago- based multi-instrumentalist announces the release of his forthcoming self-titled LP with whimsical first insight 'Woof'.

A sardonic glance at emotional growth 'Woof' offers mellow expressions intrinsically laced with playful tendencies. The track is filled with effervescence from the pleasing contradiction of Sen's nonchalant lyrical sways atop a nervously paced Wurlitzer and the punch of an 8-bit kick.

Speaking of the album, Sen explains how thematically it "explores self-examination–the way reality breaks the distortion of subjective experience. Focusing on minutia, the album highlights the ways that our learned habits, such as shameful desires and righteous ideals, are inherited by everyday motions of modern American life. The grotesque and ignored emerging in dreams, begin to inform a cruel reality. Touring through a world on a wire, my dreams, in harrowing vibrant colour, began to cross the threshold into my waking life. My self-titled album comes as a statement from somewhere in between those two worlds."

'Woof' is accompanied by a fun-loving music video featuring a quarantined Sen and his dog. Incorporating a series of hand-built landscapes created as an attempt to reopen themselves to a shut-off world, the elation within the video juxtaposes Sen's otherwise conscientious writings. "I'm too tired for pretending to be happy / Now I'm crying so loud my dog is barking at me".

A collection of window-gazing evaluations, Sen's sophomore LP is set to be released October 23rd via Sooper Records.
