Tiña: 'Golden Rope'

South London’s Tiña have delivered their second single, ‘Golden Rope’, from their much-anticipated debut album Positive Mental Health Music; to be released via cult label Speedy Wunderground on November 6th.

In recent years, South London has produced a string of guitar bands that frequent the musical breeding ground more commonly known by the name Windmill Brixton, which fosters outré experimental and eclectic sounds.

Already making a name for themselves, Tiña have two critically acclaimed singles, ‘I Feel Fine’ and ‘Dip’, under their cowboy belts, alongside the first album single ‘Rosalina’. What follows next is ‘Golden Rope’, a short and sweet, country-esque track with a galloping introduction into Loftin’s urgent vocals, “Let’s talk about mental health”, which reflects the musical climate’s themes-du-jour so intimately and honestly; anxiety, depression, love, sex, isolation, fear and failure.

‘Golden Rope’ is accompanied by a video, which depicts the band on a stony beach under grey skies. Explaining the video’s production, Loftin confesses, “I took a pot of ideas and symbols from the band and rushed an idea together in the park under a tree. I tried to soak up the song on the walk there. It’s a mix of things such as my personal practice in meditation, the feeling of nature’s impression on me and then the everyday of smoking, drinking and being silly.”

Positive Mental Health Music is the first LP to be released via Speedy Wunderground and produced by mastermind Dan Carey, whose notable alumni include the great Treeboy & Arc, Squid, black midi, Sinead O’Brien, Lazarus Kane, and most recently The Lounge Society. Mark the calendar for November 6th, it’s going to be a wild one. Yee Haw!
